Although this movie had an interesting visual style, the script was poor. It was silly and the characters were uninteresting compared to his last film, but he improved a lot. "Material" it looks amazing, the shots, scores, editing, production design and even the costumes are well thought out. The script is also great (he actually won best screenplay at Cannes for “The Substance”), the characters’ decisions are understandable – the results of the characters. I also liked Demi Moore’s performance (it should be mentioned that I didn’t think she was a good actress at all, but my first thought after watching the movie was that maybe she’s not a bad actress, she’s just been in bad movies), it’s definitely the highlight of her career. Margaret Qualley is brilliant as always. Despite the limited screen time, even Dennis Quaid gives an entertaining and engaging performance. Probably the most talked about parts of the film are the gore and body horror elements. And yes, I have to admit that this movie is pretty extreme and may be difficult for some viewers to watch. Personally, I didn’t feel disgust or anything in these scenes because I’m a big fan of disturbing cinema, so I’m used to that kind of thing, but I understand that it can be a difficult road for others. . It’s a testament to how great the makeup artist did his job (I’d love to see this movie nominated for an Oscar for “Best Makeup and Hairstyling”) and how sick and twisted Fargeat’s imagination is. I recommend this movie. It might not be for everyone, but it’s worth watching and seeing because even if you don’t like it, you can’t deny that it isn’t. the craziest, most extreme and most interesting movies of this year (or even decade).
